"I couldn’t be more excited and prouder of our winery team. To receive a platinum medal for Sognata at our first wine competition of 2022 is a real testament to the outstanding work of our employees," Scott Swaldo, CEO/general manager for GV Destinations, said in a prepared statement.
The judging panel consisted of the most influential people in the wine industry, including masters of wine, master sommeliers, sommeliers, educators, enologists, winemakers, retailers, importers, and wine industry writers and consultants.
Sognata Ice Wine is a dessert wine made from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. According to the statement released by Gervasi Vineyard, the sugars and other dissolved solids do not freeze, but the water does, allowing a more concentrated grape juice to be pressed from the frozen grapes.
