Leader Electronics’ latest-generation LV5350 waveform monitor and LV7300 rasterizer will form the test and measurement core of two digital film production systems on the Mission Digital stand (206) at the BSC Expo from April 7 to 9 in London’s Battersea Evolution. A highly experienced IT and digital dailies service provider, Mission uses Leader test instruments to support its SDR and HDR on-set DIT, lab and DI activity.
“We will be promoting our full range of digital workflow capabilities including on-set DIT, digital dailies video playback, and our unique Easel online dailies service,” says Tom Mitchell, Mission’s technical director. “We plan to show the LV5350 waveform monitor as part of a DIT cart configured to ensure mobility on a studio set or location shoot. The LV7300 rasterizer will be integrated into a grading desk. Leader’s LV5350 waveform monitors and LV7300 rasterizers present the information DITs need in a clean and logical style so that a wide range of issues likely to affect signal quality can be checked with maximum efficiency. Production teams particularly appreciate the multiscreen display which allows critical parameters to be compared side by side. Leader’s CINEZONE and CINELITE tools are also very useful as they allow real-time monitoring.”
“Checking signal parameters right from the initial shoot is always good practice as it reduces time wasted in postproduction carrying out technical fixes,” adds Kevin Salvidge, Leader Europe’s sales engineering manager. “This is especially important when working in 4K-UHD and HDR, which allow content creators to deliver a very high level of realism. Leader test instruments provide the tools needed to detect and analyze errors and make the necessary correction. The LV5350 in particular has become a de facto standard for many DITs, film production companies and OB service providers.”
“We have supported Mission Digital as a customer over many years, supplying Leader on-set test instruments such as the LV5350 for various productions,” adds Chris Margrave-Gregory of Leader channel partner Thameside.tv. “We are pleased to be providing an LV5350 and LV7300 for this year’s BSC Expo.”
The LV5350 is a mains- or battery-powered 3U high half-rack-width short-depth waveform monitor. It comes with a range of tools plus Leader’s intuitive CINEZONE and CINELITE. All features are accessible from the front control panel, augmented by a 1920 x 1080 resolution 7-inch touchscreen TFT LCD monitor. A focus detection option allows the instrument to sense edges across a very wide range of image contrast levels. Additional options include 4K/UHD support, 12G-SDI interfaces, SDI-embedded audio analysis, SDI signal generation, CIE chroma chart, HDR measurement, customized display layout, tally display, extended chroma vector display and closed-caption display.
Leader’s LV7300 rasterizer comes in a compact 1U half-rack footprint. It supports SDI signals from SD through 12G and includes physical layer testing. The instrument’s waveform, vector, picture, audio, and eye pattern displays enable comprehensive measurement and quality control of a wide range of audio and video formats. The status display allows errors and system stability to be assessed with both event logs and long-term charts. SDI-embedded audio can be shown on the Lissajous, level and status displays. The LV7300 can be powered from AC or DC, enabling it to be used in locations where mains power is not available.
