Allxon, a startup engaged in development of Internet-connected edge devices management solutions, has unveiled a SaaS-in-chip turnkey solution that can help IC and industrial computer makers introduce out-of-band (OOB) technology for remotely controling and managing edge devices, according to company chairman Chen Hsuan-bin.

Allxon was spun off from Acer in 2019, and Chen used to be vice chairman and president for TFT-LCD panel maker AU Optronics (AUO).

Based on cooperation with IC maker Nuvoton Technology, Allxon has developed the turnkey solution building Allxon plugIN, an in-house-developed patented SDK, in Nuvoton-developed microprocessor NUC980 to enable the IC to be connected with clouds based on SaaS.

The turnkey solution is a method of flexibly and scaleably developing OOB remote control and management, Chen indicated.

While OOB remote control and management is mainly used in a large number of extensively deployed edge computing devices to quickly re-boot malfunctioning ones, it can also be applied to mobile edge equipment such as cold-chain logistics vehicles, robotic arms, delivery robots and drones, Chen said.

In addition to manufacturing industries, Allxon has been actively developing Internet-connected edge devices management solutions for vertical application such as smart agriculture, Chen noted.
