Ryvid, a Californian EV maker is making headlines with its first-ever product, the Anthem electric motorcycle. This USD 7,800 (Rs 6.17 lakh) EV’s production is limited to 1,000 units and here’s what the hype is all about:
The Ryvid Anthem uses the ‘Less is Fast’ principle and flaunts a unique stainless steel chassis that is feather-light at 5.44kg. Ryvid has also focused on lowering the motorcycle’s centre of gravity. Then there are some more innovative bits like the height-adjustable seat (762mm-834mm) and the removable battery pack.
Removable battery packs aren’t new anymore, but Ryvid’s engineers have given the 4.3kWh battery pack a set of wheels! Why? To make it easy to take the 30kg pack to a charger, that’s why. The pack takes three hours to charge and can deliver a range of 120km before it needs more juice.
Even though the aforementioned range will only be possible in ‘Eco’ mode, in ‘Sports’ mode the Anthem can cover over 80km without regen. This featherweight machine packs a 13.5kW BLDC motor producing 7.5kW of continuous power and 72Nm of peak torque.
This motor is backed by capable hardware. The Ryvid Anthem flaunts adjustable USD fork and monoshock setup and to act as anchors, Ryvid has deployed a 310mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
Ryvid has equipped the Anthem with a 4.9-inch TFT display that packs all the necessary information. Though there are no gimmicky features, there’s a variable rear gear set that can amp up the torque as required for a seamless blend of acceleration and top speed.
The Ryvid Anthem is on sale now, and the firm promises to deliver the bikes by mid-2023. It has a limited lifetime warranty for the frame, two-year warranty for the power pack, and a one-year standard motorcycle warranty.
Considering what you are getting for all that money, we reckon it is a pretty sweet deal. Unfortunately, our market won’t get the Ryvid Anthem and our wait for the Ultraviolette F77 continues.
